Structured cabling specialist Reichle & De-Massari (R&D) has developed a new range of fibre optic outlets for use in both residential and commercial buildings.
The new product allows network operators and homeowners to extend the reach of fibre optic broadband connections all the way to individual rooms.
R&D are focusing on selling the product for to households with digital entertainment systems, allowing them to transmit and stream high definition video to multiple devices via their internet connection.
The FO splice outlet has four ports which can house two fibre optic leads at any given time.
The R&M outlet also supports standard Cat5e or Cat6 leads with its RJ45 connector module.
Meanwhile, coloured dust caps, which are easily labelled, can be used to ensure the device maintains transmission integrity even after sustained use.
According to network equipment manufacturer TeleCayman, fibre optic cabling is the future of business networking and has already been widely adopted by financial institutions.
