Neutrik unveils new fibre optic cabling connector - Fibre Leads Neutrik has unveiled a new, rugged fibre optic cable connector at the InfoComm 2009 conference.

The firm's opticalCON Quad device is an industrial-strength connector based on the firm's existing technology.

It is designed specifically for use in point-to-point cabling applications and is capable of withstanding dusty and wet environments.

The new connector comes in three varieties including a four-channel version, four-channel X-treme and a Triple-Split 12-channel assembly.

According to the firm the connector is suitable for any live music event".

"With the introduction of our upgraded opticalCON Quad, we have fine-tuned our technology to offer the installation market the ultimate in fiber connectivity," says Pete Milbery, managing director of Neutrik.

He added that all three versions of the new product, which uses a protective metal shutter and a two-component rubber gasket, were road-ready and could be used for outdoor broadcasting, touring and stage setup purposes.

Meanwhile, Combitac has expanded its Cat5 and Cat6 cable connectors range.
