H2O Networks starts work on a Yorkshire Fibrezone - Fibre Leads

H2O Networks starts work on a Yorkshire Fibrezone - Fibre Leads H2O Networks has started work on the next phase of Yorkshire's Fibrezone.

Using next-generation fibre optic cables to provide the county with carrier-grade connectivity, the company claims the technology will be a fraction of the cost of traditional network equipment.

The project is similar to work carried out in Dundee and Bournemouth.

First deployed around Sheffield city-centre, the initial phase uses 7km of existing fibre optic leads installed in 2007 by ISP ASK4.

Roy Shelton, Commercial Director at H2O, said: "This Fibrezone sees us extending our fibre footprint in Sheffield, providing low cost unlimited bandwidth, allowing homes and businesses throughout the city to connect."

He added that the success of the Sheffield project has caused huge demand for Fibrezone across the rest of Yorkshire and therefore the company will push ahead with its planned expansion over the next ten or 12 months.

According to recent research by Reichle & De-Massari, Europe is ready for the widespread expansion of fibre to the home technology.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19254293-ADNFCR
