Broadband providers and the government should be cooperating to bring the fast internet connections through ethernet cables to everyone in the country, an expert has stated.
Michael Phillips, product director for Broadbandchoices.co.uk, asserted that collaboration could yield better results in the roll-out of quicker connections.
"The government should work out the economic tests for investing in local area broadband projects, setting aside a fund, that broadband providers can tender to provide the services for a given area," he suggested.
Government targets aim to provide every property in the UK with 2Mbps of connectivity by 2015.
It also hopes that nine out of ten households will be able to receive bandwidth of 24Mbps or more by this time, which Brits may want to provide throughout their home network using RJ45 cables.
Last month, Google launched a trial version of a 1Gbps broadband connection in the US at Stanford University and those testing it reported that they had achieved download speeds of more than 500Mbps.
