DME Cables, which has an important role in extending European Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Council's activities, claims it is serious about remaining competitive in the Middle East.
The announcement shows that unified broadband and network equipment standards could be starting to spread.
Fibre optic leads are already being used in many major developments in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), however many older buildings are still reliant on copper cabling for their data transmission.
Ardeshir Yeganegi, managing director of DME Cables states: "Through an FTTH infrastructure that is economical, reliable and technologically advanced, DME believes that UAE can continue to be a world-leading business hub."
He added that the Middle East would benefit massively from the new technologies both in terms of providing value and reliability.
Meanwhile, Virgin Media is planning to launch 150Mbps broadband using fibre optic cable to the home by 2012.
The investment in the technology will be on top of BT's £1.5 billion fibre optic infrastructure, which will be connected to ten million homes in the same year.
