The i3 Group has acquired a leading CCTV and UV lining firm which it hopes will improve its turn-around when fixing network problems.
Formerly H2O Networks, the i3 Group specialises in fibre optic cable infrastructure and network equipment for the broadband industry.
The acquisition of Cyclops will be used to create a new services division at the company, which will be charged with surveying sewer systems which it will lay cabling in.
Prior to the acquisition the firm outsourced all its surveying work, which is a pre-requisite for cable installation projects.
Elfred Thomas, chief executive of Cyclops, said the partnership will "substantially reduce operational costs for the water companies by assisting with the maintenance of damaged sewers through CCTV and UV lining repairs".
i3 has appointed John Bookless, who joined the firm a year ago, as the division's managing director.
Meanwhile, the firm has selected Cadcorp to carry out mapping services for its fibre optic network expansion in the UK.
