Bournemouth fibre broadband service launches - Network Cables

Bournemouth fibre broadband service launches - Network CablesAfter extensive delays, Bournemouth's ultra-fast fibre cable broadband network is nearing completion.

The 100Mbps network was mothballed last autumn when the i3 Group ran into funding difficulties, but CityFibre Holdings is now on the verge of completing the rollout.

Initially, 24,000 households and business premises will be able to sign up for the service – which sees fibre cables deliver broadband straight to the premises.

Once installation work is complete, a further 14,000 will also gain access to ultra-fast broadband.

Mark Collins, chief commercial officer at CityFibre, said the firm had kept its promise to complete the work left undone by its predecessor.

"It's imperative to CityFibre that we manage this network responsibly," he stated.

"We are really pleased to be now moving onto the next stage and that our first service provider partner Fibreband are launching their services."
