Fibre cables boost for Cheshire residents and businesses - Network Cables

BT has rolled out fibre-optic network cables in Nantwich, bringing super-fast downloads to residents and businesses in the Cheshire town.

More than 8,000 homes and businesses are due to join the digital revolution in the coming weeks as the telecoms giant continues its nationwide infrastructure upgrade.

Following the completion of BT's work in Nantwich, more than 283,000 Cheshire homes will be able to receive a broadband upgrade via fibre cables.

Speaking to This is Staffordshire, Councillor David Brown, performance and capacity portfolio holder for Cheshire East Council, said this is "very welcome news" for local people.

"Super-fast broadband is an essential building block to economic recovery and growth," he stated.

BT is aiming to provide super-fast fibre broadband to two-thirds of the UK by 2014.

Some ten million UK homes are currently able to take advantage of the firm's next-generation network.
