FCI develops high-speed copper I/O


FCI develops high-speed copper I/ONetworking equipment manufacturer FIC has unveiled a high-speed copper-based input/output (I/O) solution.

The firm's DensiShield has an effective bandwidth of 10Gbit per channel over cabling lengths of up to 10-metres.

DensiShield provides IT professionals with four-channel capacity and can therefore deliver an aggregate bandwidth of 40Gbit per second.

Jim David, global high-speed I/O market manager for the firm, said: "Customers have acknowledged FCI's expertise in delivering high-speed and high-density solutions that support the market's ever increasing needs for 10Gbit per second per channel."

He added that the DensiShield system meets 10Gbit performance levels at distances typically used in within-rack or rack-to-rack cabling.

FCI operates globally in 30 countries and recorded sales worth €1.3 billion (£1.2 billion) in 2007.

The firm, which was founded in 1988 by Framatome, now employs more than 14,200 people and supplies the automotive, telecommunications, micropackaging, consumer electronics, data storage, industrial and medical sectors with a wide range connectors.ADNFCR-1186-ID-18970804-ADNFCR
