Network equipment manufacturer Draka Communications has launched a new range of cabling solutions aimed at encouraging firms to migrate to next generation data transmission technology.
The company's UC-Future programme incorporates the latest cabling infrastructure, which meets current density needs and paves the way for widespread fibre optic lead adoption by data centre operators.
One of the key elements of Draka Communications' UC-Future scheme is the introduction of optimised copper cabling which is designed for the transmission of data over average distances of 20 to 60m.
According to the firm, their slim design allows for a 100 per cent increase in the number of cables that can be crammed into server cabinet trays.
They also meet the Cat6 cable transmission standard which is the minimum required for 10GBase-T transmission.
Draka Communications' revenue in 2008 was 2.7 billion (£2.4 billion), making it the eight largest cable manufacturer in the world and the third largest in Europe.
