Cabling needs to be intelligently managed - Network Cables

Cabling needs to be intelligently managed - Network CablesCabling is so ubiquitous in data centres that it needs to be carefully managed.

According to Snake Tray, cabling should be treated with the same respect as servers and network attached storage devices, which are housed neatly in server racks and cabinets.

The firm, which manfacturers cabling solutions, claims that cable trays are a good means of keeping track of cabling.

"When we first started, data centres were much smaller. Now they routinely exceed 100,000 square feet," the company's president and founder Roger Jette said.

Although there are various types of cable tray on the market - including ladders, channel, single rail and wire mesh varieties – the Snake Tray is the first metal cable conduit suitable for both fibre optic leads and standard Cat5 cables which can be bent by hand.

The conduits are also nestable, so end up taking up very little space.

Meanwhile, a former Dragon's Den contestant Andrew Harsley could face legal action for patent infringement with his Rapstrap cable ties.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19096001-ADNFCR
