Cabling manufacturers merge - Network Cables The General Cable Corporation has announced its takeover of Gepco International and Isotec.

Gepco International is a manufacturer and supplier of high-end cabling solutions and its main business focus is professional broadcast and media markets.

In 2008, the company had revenues of $46 million.

According to Jay Lahman, vice-president and general manager of Carol, Gepco and Isotec products, the equipment is of vital importance to the industry and the takeover will cement General Cable Corporations reputation is a leader in cable manufacture.

Mr Lahman said: "With the acquisition of Gepco International and Isotec's specialty electronic cable business, General Cable expects to significantly expand its share of this important U.S. market, as well as leverage General Cable's global sales infrastructure with this technically superior brand of multimedia cables in markets all over the world."

He added that the he expects demand for the products to grow as the switch from analog to digital is made.
