Cables 'should be labelled twice' - Network Cables

When using network cables, businesses, organisations and home users should ensure they use a simple and straightforward labelling system, it has been claimed.

Speaking to CEPro.com, Amos Kittelson of Sidewalk Technologies urged network managers to label every cable end twice.

They should place a label at one end of the cable and again three feet in from the end, in order to ensure there is no confusion where multiple leads are used.

Mr Kittelson said all cables and patch panels should be labelled with a number and a location, to help ensure each reaches its intended destination.

Speaking to the news provider, Paul Guzman of Smart Solutions Unlimited recently urged network managers to upgrade their cables.

He said that all firms and households which are still using Cat 5 cables should now upgrade to category 6.
