Berk-Tek is releasing a new ten gigabit ethernet cable that is capable of transferring data to a distance of 60 meters.
The LANmark-10G Limited Distance is an unshielded twisted-pair cable and is specifically designed for high-density applications such as data centres, according to Cabling Installation & Maintenance.
At only 0.265 inches in diameter, the cable can help to reduce pathway constriction and facilitates improved air circulation within a server rack environment, Berk-Tek claims.
Jim Frey, copper product manager for the firm, added: "The advantage of Berk-Teks' 10G LD cable is that it supports 10GBase-T to 60 metres at a significantly reduced diameter and does not require alien crosstalk testing."
Tyco recently introduced a range of halogen-free ethernet cables that offer high-speed connectivity for networking users while keeping signal integrity.
The TurboTwin Low Smoke Zero Halogen would keep toxic emissions to a minimum in the case of a fire, according to the manufacturer.
