Network equipment manufacturer Averlogic has created a power line transmission solution for high-definition video data.
The company unveiled the technology, which is still in development and not yet commercially available at the Computex industry event.
According to the firm, the new technology does away with the need for specialist RJ45 leads when moving high-definition data from a PC to a living room television.
The system is compatible with HDMI 1.3 and can also stream 5.1-channel AC-3 audio.
On top of that the transmitter also works as a switch and has three inputs and one output.
Pocket-lint.com said: "Overall the technology is looking very interesting and hopefully this should turn up in some better looking consumer devices shortly."
Meanwhile, Key Digital recently introduced a new cabling extender, which is compatible with high-definition digital video transmission.
The new Fat Cat technology supports the extension of Cat7, Cat6 and Cat5 cables to lengths of between 150 and 280 feet.
