A new system has been launched which certifies and tests the speeds of Ethernet network cables up to one gigabit per second, it has been reported.
Instrumentation.co.za claims the JDSU Validator and Validator-NT Ethernet tools are designed to detect faults in network cables and provide support to the transmission requirements of active equipment.
The system's tests include signal-to-noise ratio, TIA 568/570, IEEE 802.3 and time domain reflectometers.
According to the news provider, JDSU's LanRoamerPRO Cable Tester TP600 combines the functions of tone generator, cable tester and measurement tool and is described as being suitable for residential, data communications and contract cable installers.
The IVT 600 Tri-Porter checks network cables for voice, data and video and offers "fault diagnosis, cable tracing, location identification and presence of service detection".
JDSU claims to be a leading provider of optical products as well as test and measurement solutions for the communications industry.
The company also offers products for medical and environmental instrumentation.
