Black box has released two new network tools that allow users to locate faults and leaks in their fibre cables.
The Visual Light Source Pen has a zero dBm output, while the Visual Fault Locator for Fibre can operate at three different outputs - zero dBm, three dBm, and dBm.
These devices are crucial for data and network engineers as they can help find faults, bad connections, and poor splices in fibre cables and leads, keeping systems running fast and minimising breakdowns.
Importantly, because they can work with jacketed or bare fibre cables, they can find problems in any number of situations, including with jumper cables, patch panel connections and fanouts.
The pen is an extremely lightweight product that can operate in temperatures ranging from minus ten to 50 degrees C.
Black Box, based in Pennsylvania, USA, makes communications and infrastructure solutions for voice and data networks.
Among its other products are cat5e cables, server racks and monitoring tools.
