Information infrastructure solutions provider EMC has unveiled a new unified storage system which it claims is "the most cost-effective entry-level platform available on the market".
The Celerra NX4 can be deployed in network attached storage, internet small computer system interface and fibre channel storage area network environments.
Designed for small and medium-sized business (SMB) use, the system allows users to consolidate file servers and storage onto one platform.
EMC, whose products include network switches, said this simplifies storage management and improves efficiency, which is what many SMBs are looking for.
"The Celerra NX4 enables us to address the unified storage requirements of SMBs and remote offices with a flexible, easy-to-use platform and gives us an opportunity to extend our value-add services to these customers," said John Palley, general manager of ISC.
Data storage and networking firm Hifn has also unveiled a new unified storage platform that can support multiple storage applications.
