Green NAS solution launched

Green NAS solution launchedLong-term storage provider Nexsan has launched an energy efficient network attached storage (NAS) solution for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The Edge helps to meet demand among SMB customers for greener data storage options that do not compromise on performance, Nexsan stated.

Based on Microsoft Windows Unified Data Storage Server technology, the product allows users to tier existing Nexsan storage with file services such as the Common Internet File System and the Network File System, as well as the block service Internet Small Computer System Interface.

Bob Woolery, senior vice president of marketing at the company, said: "The Edge delivers an innovative mix of green NAS, high reliability and tiered storage at an attractive price point that SMB customers are looking for."

Nexsan said that the NAS solution - which requires 9U of space in data and server racks - is suited for high-capacity applications such as healthcare and rich media, as well as a wide variety of standard business applications.

Earlier this month, Nexsan said it had teamed up with GE Healthcare IT to provide systems to capture, process, store and archive images in hospitals and healthcare centres.
