Avocent Corporation launches KVM switch

Avocent Corporation launches KVM switchAvocent Corporation has launched a new switch, which allows users to access data stores on multiple computers safely.

The new SwitchView SC 200 KVM switch allows access of the data, while switching from just one keyboard, monitor and mouse.

The need for a separate keyboard has been eradicated with the launch of a secure switch, which also provides cost savings.

Among the hardware security measures included within the switches are tamper evident tape, chassis intrusion detection and locked memory.

Ed Havlik, ANZ country manager for Avocent, said: "While USB by nature is not a secure connection, Avocent has engineered the USB ports on all our secure switches to only recognise human interface devices, such as the CAC reader, ensuing security and data integrity.

"Items such as USB sticks won't be recognised, so no data can be removed from the secure area."
