Yes, it’s that time of year! Of course I mean Christmas but I also refer to another event we look forward to here at Comms - the office Christmas party!
As all of you do I’m sure, the team at Comms really look forward to this one time of the year when we can all come together and really let our hair down. For me it’s imperative that at the end of a great, yet busy year, we can all raise a glass (or two!) and congratulate each other for the year gone and wish each other all the very best for the forthcoming year.
I touched on bringing the team together in a previous blog, as a form of team building and the office party can be a wonderfully effective tool in this arsenal. That said according to recent reports are said to cost British business some £259 million in lost working hours so maybe we won't hit it too hard this year!
However while all this merriment I also think it is important to take time out to think of those less fortunate. We've all felt how the weather has dropped, with temperatures below freezing and it's this time of year when we're reading of those sleeping rough or unable to heat their homes that it really hits home.
A charity that works tirelessly with those unable to be with their families at this time of year is GOSH, Great Ormand Street Hospital. It's a charity close to the heart of Comms, every month we raise money to donate, to offer aid in some small way to the efforts of the team there who work so hard on behalf of sickly children.
So we can let our hair down with the best of them and be sure to enjoy yourself, stay safe, don't skip work and spare a thought for those less fortunate than others.
Until next timeSteve Wilkin
